Capital Markets & Construction: Strategies for Investors, General Partners, and Sponsors

In today’s high-interest-rate environment, commercial real estate investors and sponsors must navigate rising construction costs, tighter capital markets, and increased underwriting scrutiny. Success increasingly depends on disciplined deal structuring, proactive cost management, and strong capital partnerships.

In this session, Waikiki Paulino and I discuss the evolving landscape of construction financing and capital markets for family offices, institutional investors, and commercial real estate sponsors. We explore how inflation and higher borrowing costs are impacting development decisions, and why underwriting discipline and capital structure flexibility are more important than ever.

We also discuss opportunities emerging in distressed assets, the importance of experienced development and financing teams, and how investors can position themselves to execute effectively in a more challenging market cycle.

For developers, investors, and capital markets professionals, this conversation offers practical insights into navigating today’s construction and financing environment while positioning deals for long-term success.
